Out of Town Again

Just as I finish my laundry I'm hitting the road again! I ran out of time for my movie update (or rather, my computer kept crashing while trying to convert the movie), but I'm hoping to get lots of saucy stuff shot while I'm in Miami. It's 3:16 a.m. & I'm still packing despite my best laid plans. I ended up spending the day (packing day!) trying to track down a decent kennel or dog sitter for my pooches after my prior arrangements fell through at the last minute. Not surprisingly in the middle of summer, most kennels and dog sitters are booked up. And for $60/day I might look into becoming a dog sitter myself! The service consists of three 30-minute visits/walks per day which works out to $40/hour...for walking a freakin' dog.

Fortunately I found a doggy daycare place with a wonderful owner that put my worries to rest. I went down to check it out right before they closed tonight & it was leaps & bounds better than the last kennel I used (spoiled house dogs don't do very well laying on hard concrete in the same dog runs where they also do their business).

Printing out some last minute maps & confirmation info, finishing packing & then off to bed. I'm sooooo glad nobody dresses up to fly anymore. If I'm rolling into the airport with my hair brushed tomorrow morning I'll have surpassed my self-imposed expectations.

Now if I could only stop singing that Miami jingle from the Golden Girls...

Bare Feet Outside Pictures

bare feet outside

Just added a new photo gallery for Barefoot Kristy members of my pink flip flops & dark purple nails outside in the grass. These are the clean bare feet pictures which came before the muddy river walk that I posted before. I like getting dirty, but I know not everybody is into that. Can't have your feet & eat 'em too! haha

I added some larger samples to my foot fetish Yahoo group too.

Bare Foot Blues

Hey guys! This month has been insanely busy for me, so please accept my apologies for being so quiet. Between a wedding & then visiting with family up in Banff, getting my house ready to sell & dealing with a bunch of work stuff with my lawyer, I'm sooooo ready to pay attention to some more important things - like getting a pedicure! I'm not usually one to neglect my feet, but with everything else going on right now I've barely had time to shower let alone do my nails. =(

Fortunately my next trip (I leave this weekend) will be far more foot & camera friendly than hiking in the mountains. I'm going to Miami! I've never been there & can't wait to go. There will be flip flops & bare feet a plenty! Better believe I'll be bringing my camera. hehe

I ducked into my favorite shoe store this week to try & find some sexy heels to wear if I get a chance to go out to one of the nightclubs Miami is famous for. I tried on 2 killer pairs of stillettos - the sexiest shoes I've ever seen & only $35 each! I was in love! At home, I don't go anywhere that would warrant such sexy stems, but in Miami? Yeah, baby! Unfortunately, I wasn't joking about the "killer" part of these heels. My feet were screaming after just standing in either pair for a couple of minutes. Walking? Fuggedaboutit. I could have cried when I returned them to their boxes & left the store empty handed. I almost DID cry later when I realized that just putting those shoes on for a minute had already formed little cuts on my feet! Both pairs had a thin strap across the toes that apparently was made out of barbed wire. lol

The search continues! Maybe I should sneak my camera in with me next time. *heehee*

Banff Pictures

Holy moley! I came home to over 400 emails & voicemail full to capacity. I knew things were piling up at home, but I didn't realize everything was being flipped upside down! When I left for Banff my ex-girlfriend & oldest friend in Edmonton was getting married at the end of August & we were planning her bachorlette party. I get home & not only is the wedding off, but she's moving out. A contractor came by today to give me an estimate on all the work I need done before I can put my house up for sale. I called so many different places before I finally found someone who could:
a) call me back
b) start the work before September

Now I'm back on the painting/cleaning/selling/storage-ing mission. I'm going to paint the stuff I can reach like doors & trim before the professionals come in. That way if I have any spills or drips, they'll be doing the final stuff. Now I just need a baseboard guy, new light fixtures, new door knobs, finish sewing the curtains, fix the bathroom floor tile...whew! I'm tired already. lol On to the Banff pictures:

My favorite day of the holiday was the afternoon I took off by myself with nothing but a cooler & the doggies. We explored a few different lakes in the Banff area, chatted up a cute kayaker & lounged around on a picnic blanket drinking cider & soaking up the scenery.

I know dogs are always supposed to be on leashes in national parks, especially in bear country, but the pug was having so much fun digging up rocks along the shore that I wanted to see if he would actually swim if I went in with him. We waited out most of the other tourists & then I brought the dogs into the freezing cold lake with me. Kiero was a pretty good swimmer (though she seemed totally unimpressed that I made her get even her feet wet), but the pug was a bit top heavy & too short of snout to be much of a swimmer. Back to the beach for him while mom floated for a bit, happy to escape the heat & mosquitos. Best Day Ever.

On My Way Home

My holiday is coming to an end & I'm a little sad to report that I'll be home late tonight. Banff is absolutely beautiful. I would love to stay for another week & keep hiking, swimming in the (cold!) lakes & harvesting freckles. My shoulders are covered with freckles! Much more becoming than the red mosquito bites on my legs.

As far as family vacations go, this has been the best one yet. No fights at all even with all the stress of a big wedding, lots of very different people with very different agendas to accommodate & a screaming 2 year old (my nephew). I ended up staying a few days longer than I had planned & shared a condo with my sister's family. I don't get to see her very often & when I do, it's usually with the entire family around which makes any real conversations rather limited - just too much noise & general activity when everyone gets together.

My thought process went like this: I know I really can't afford to take a holiday right now & it's the worst possible time with the amount of things I should've gotten done weeks ago, BUT I'm already here & I have no idea when I'll be back to Banff or get to see my sister again. I'll still be broke & way behind 3 days from now, but at least I'll have had 3 days of really exploring the mountains & spending time with my family. It has been wonderful! We drove up to Lake Louise & did the glacier hike. I took Piggy & Kiero out to the Lake Minnewankwa area & actually swam in the glacier fed lake. We even did a geocache hike into Sundance Canyon. So much fun! The first few days of the vacation were all family stuff so we ended up doing things like hanging around the condo & visiting, shopping & eating at really boring places (like Boston Pizza, twice) because that was what was easiest when you're dealing with so many people plus little kids. But my idea of a holiday is not shopping at stores I have back home or eating at chain restaurants that I have back home. *yawn* Being in a place with such incredible natural beauty & having the only physical activity be shopping or sitting in a hot tub? Lame. My sister & her family have a 14 hour drive & then are back to work on Monday morning, but she felt the same way as I did & so we agreed to stay a couple of extra days. It was well worth it.

I didn't take too many pictures, but I did get some cute ones when I snuck off to the lake with the dogs while everybody else was golfing. I like to golf, but for $189, I'd rather do twilight & the driving range a bunch of times at some of the local courses back home versus a single round up here. I'll be back soon & will post photos!
